Tavira

Tavira is known as the 'Venice of the Algarve'. A town with a proud heritage, it's famous for its 37 churches and monuments as well as a magnificent castle. Tavira is considered to be the most architecturally attractive town in the Algarve. A visit to the top of the Torre de Tavira is a must to enjoy the spectacular views of the town.

Again, like Olhao, it has a long fishing tradition and the produce can be found in many local dishes served in the many friendly restaurants in the town.

A number of islands close to Tavira can be visited and these are also part of the nature reserve of Ria Formosa. They offer a large variety of bird life, water birds, local flora and fauna for the nature lover to experience.
